QUETTA: Balochistan government has decided to integrate Bolan Medical Complex and Sandeman Provincial Hospital with the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) for registration of birth and death certificates, Local Government and Rural Development Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch said on Tuesday.

Mr Baloch called the initiative a significant move towards digitisation. “The birth and death certificates have already been fully digitised in cooperation with Nadra,” he said during a meeting.

“Further measures are being implemented to enhance the registration process and improve the Civil Registration Management System across the province.”

The meeting was attended by key officials including Health Secretary Mujeebur Rehman Panizai, Local Government Board Secretary Shujaat Hussain, Nadra Balochistan Director General Naveed Jan Sahibzada, assistant directors Faizullah Kakar and Rizwan Magsi, Balochistan Health Card Director Dr Ahmad Wali and senior officials from the Health Department and Nadra.

The local government secretary emphasised on making Union Council offices more functional to facilitate the public in obtaining birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates.

It was also decided that an investigative committee will be formed at the local government level to review existing birth and death certificates and address registration obstacles.

The meeting concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Local Government Department, the Health Department, and Nadra to formalise their cooperation in implementing digital birth and death registration throughout Balochistan.
