GUJRAT: An Elite Force official shot his nephew dead for pursuing a murder case against him and the son at Bugna village in the Dinga police precincts on Tuesday.

Yasir Mehmood Gujjar, an official of Punjab Police (Elite Force), along with his two unidentified accomplices arrived in the village and opened fire at his 25- year-old nephew Husnain who was the only son of his brother Azhar Iqbal. As a result of the firing, the youth was shot dead and the suspects fled.

Police and Rescue 1122 teams reached the spot and shifted the body to Shabeer Sharif Hospital Kunjah where doctors conducted the post-mortem and handed the body over to the heirs of the deceased.

Dinga police have registered a case against Yasir, his wife Saiqa Bibi and two unidentified suspects on the report of Azhar Iqbal, the father of the deceased.

The suspect was on bail for murder of another nephew

Around two months ago, Yasir and his son had gunned down the son of another brother, Mazhar Hussain, over a land dispute.

Initial police investigation revealed that the deceased youth, Hussain, and his father Azhar were pursuing the murder case of Mazhar’s son that was the main grudge of the suspect behind killing his nephew.

Sources in police said that Yasir Gujjar had been suspended from the police service after being nominated in the previous murder case whereas his son had been arrested by the police and currently in Gujrat District Jail.

Yasir got the interim bail from a district and sessions court which was cancelled but he had again got an interim bail from the Lahore High Court a few days ago.
