ISLAMABAD: The prosecution of Islamabad Police has nominated the PTI’s top leadership in a case related to October 4, 2024 protest.

As Judicial Magistrate Shaista Kundi resumed the proceeding in this case, the prosecution submitted a challan in another case registered at Koral Police Station on October 4, formally naming senior PTI leaders, including Barrister Gohar Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur, Barrister Saif, and Omar Ayub as accused.

During the hearing, 29 PTI workers appeared before the court, while four others filed applications seeking exemption from attendance.

The court adjourned the hearing until July 17, when the accused are expected to be formally indicted.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) of Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra indicted accused Raja Majid in a separate case related to Faizabad protests following the disqualification of the former prime minister Imran Khan after his conviction for concealing Toshakhana gifts from his declared assets.

Majid denied the charges during the hearing. Co-accused Amir Mahmood Kayani appeared in court, while Faisal Javed Khan and Wasiq Qayyum submitted applications requesting exemption from attendance. Several of the co-accused had already been indicted in earlier proceedings.

The case registered at I-9 police station also named PTI leaders Faisal Javed Khan, Wasiq Qayyum, and Amir Kayani.

The court summoned prosecution witnesses and adjourned the hearing until May 19.

In a related matter, hearings in other protest-related cases registered at CTD and Golra Police Stations have been delayed due to the unavailability of Mr Khan.

Judge Sipra emphasised that Mr Khan holds the same legal status in these cases as in others and noted that proceedings could not continue without his appearance.

The proceedings in those cases have been adjourned until May 16.
