LAKKI MARWAT: Three schoolboys were injured in a roadside bomb explosion in Surani Sikandakhel Bala area of Bannu district on Monday.

A police official said that unknown miscreants had planted an improvised explosive device along a road near a government high school to target police and security forces.

He said the blast occurred when a police patrol party was passing by. “The policemen narrowly survived the bomb attack,” he said, adding a large police contingent immediately reached the area and launched a search for the terrorists.

A Rescue 1122 official said a medical team shifted three students to the Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital from the blast site. He identified the injured boys as Anas, Hamza and Umar, saying that their condition was stable.

Meanwhile, a man was killed and eight others were injured in a collision between a bus and a coach near Hamedan Chowk in Karak district on Monday.

A Rescue 1122 official said that a passenger, identified as Hukam Daraz, 61, a resident of Andi Karak, died on the spot. He said the body and the injured were transported to the District Headquarters Hospital.

“The injured included Sanobata, 45, Sher Zia, 13, Hajira, 14, Ahmadullah Khan, 23, and Umar Ayaz, 42, residents of Lakki Marwat; Iftekhar Ahmad, a resident of Peshawar, Armanullah of Waziristan and an unidentified man,” the rescue official said.

The official said some injured persons were referred to hospitals in Peshawar owing to their critical condition.
