QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly on Friday adopted resolutions to open all border crossing points from Chaman to Gwadar, permission to bring edible items from Iran and launching of weekly PIA flights from Zhob to other cities.

The assembly session, which was presided over by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai, passed the resolution presented by JUI-F MPA Fazal Qadir Mand­o­khail, calling for the res­u­m­ption of weekly PIA flights from Zhob to other cities.

Meanwhile, separate resolutions on granting divisional status to Pishin, opening border crossing points from Chaman to Gwadar and permission to bring food items from the Iran border were disposed of after assurances from the government.

The resolution for granting divisional status to Pishin was moved by JUI’s Syed Zafar Ali Agha.

Demands weekly PIA flights from Zhob to other cities

Maulana Hidayatur Rehman Baloch, the emir of Jamaat-i-Islami Balochistan, moved the resolutions calling for the opening of crossing points from Chaman to Gwadar, permitting food imports from Iran and allowing locals to cross the border through Iranian Rahdari for travel.

During the session, a calling attention notice by JUI-F’s Mir Zabid Ali Reki regarding the non-release of funds for establishing colleges in Washuk district was deferred due to the absence of the education minister.

Another calling attention notice by Mr Baloch concerning the non-commencement of the Gwadar Safe City Project was disposed of. Later, Speaker Achakzai adjourned the assembly session till on May 21.
