FAISALABAD, May 5: British High Commissioner Mark Lyall Grant says the colonisation of Faisalabad (Lyallpur) and world’s largest irrigation system in the Punjab were among the important and correct decisions the British had taken during their 200 years rule.

Speaking at a function hosted in his honour in the Lyallpur Gold Club, he termed Faisalabad his ancestral town which had been planned as a ‘Mandi Town’ on the pattern of Union Jack with Clock Tower in the centre and surrounded by eight bazaars.

He voiced satisfaction over the expeditious development of this city and said that it had now emerged as a textile capital of the world. He termed Faisalabad a land of opportunities and lauded the dynamism and innovations of its inhabitants.
