HYDERABAD, May 5: The construction of four plazas in three urban talukas of the Hyderabad district has been stopped. The building control department has been directed to furnish the record of three other plazas.

The orders were passed on after reports of the development works and services committee appointed by District Nazim Naveed Jamil.

The committee found two plazas in Latifabad taluka and one plaza each in City and Qasimabad talukas were being constructed without approval.

The district nazim expressed annoyance over the violation of building rules and directed officials concerned not to approve revised plans for those plazas which were being constructed illegally.

He directed to initiate immediate legal action against all those multi-storey buildings, which were being constructed without approval of the building control department and in violation of the approved building plan in residential and commercial areas.

The district nazim advised the PTCL, SSGC and Wasa to evolve a strategy to carry out their underground development works.

He said that prior permission must be sought from the district government for digging any road.

He issued these instructions while presiding over a meeting of officials the telephone department at his secretariat on Friday.

The general-manager of the Optical Fibre Network System, Saeed Ahmed, OFNS-II director Bashir Bhutto, divisional engineer Naeem Hyder Naqvi, project coordinator Rana Abdullah, regional manager Lu Yang and EDO (works and services) Haleem Ghouri were present on the occasion.

He said that without any doubt the installation of optical fibre system would benefit the people.

He said the department must ensure proper planning and discipline in the development work.

He said the department must seek written permission from the department to dig any road to avoid inconvenience to people.

He said that the district government would complete its ongoing projects by June and initiate new projects thereafter.

He advised the telephone, gas and Wasa department to inform the district government in writing about their projects for the purpose of coordination.
