LAKKI MARWAT: The tribesmen of Nurar area staged a sit-in along the Bannu-Miryan Road on Sunday to protest the delay in safe recovery of a government schoolteacher. A large number of tribesmen camped at the site and demanded of the local police and administration officials to expedite efforts for freeing the kidnapped teacher from his captors.

Pir Sahib Zaman, tehsil council chairman Pir Kamal Shah, Nasir Khan, Jamshed Khan and other elders said that unknown armed men had kidnapped Farman Ali Shah on April 23 when he was going to his school on a motorcycle.

“Since then, the tribesmen have been protesting to press the government for his safe release, but to no avail,” they claimed.

They said that the elders always demonstrated patience and tried to resolve issues peacefully but the constant delay on part of the government had exhausted their patience.

“The elders are being targeted for raising their voice for peace,” they regretted, adding that a jirga of Bannu elders would be convened on May 7 to chalk out a future line of action for the recovery of the kidnapped teacher.
