LAHORE: An ATC on Saturday granted pre-arrest bail to the PTI’s former MNA Aliya Hamza Malik till May 17 in a case related to a February rally and alleged anti-state activities.

Judge Irfan Haider heard the bail plea of Ms Malik who appeared before the court. He issued a notice to the police on the bail petition and restrained them from arresting the PTI leader. The bail was granted subject to furnishing of surety bonds worth Rs100,000.

The petition stated that the police intended to arrest the petitioner in a case registered in February, which was not based on good faith but a result of political victimization.

The plea said social media activist Sanam Javed was also arrested last week in the same case. It asked the court to restrain the police from arresting Ms Malik.
