SUKKUR, May 4: Residents of different localities of the city staged a protest demonstration on Qureshi Road on Thursday against municipal authorities for their failure to repair the main pipeline which supplies water to their localities.

The 12-inch diameter pipeline in Baban Shah Colony bust last night stopping water supply to some 40 localities including Old Sukkur, Waspur Muhalla, Nusrat Colony-5, Baban Shah Colony, Thermal Colony, Regent Colony, Masoomi Muhalla, Shahi Bazaar, Tanga Stand.

The protestors complained that pipeline-busting had become almost a routine matter in summer and warned the authorities repair the pipeline within 12 hours or face protest.

The reason the pipelines bust in summer, the taluka municipal officer said, was that they had worn out over time, and the taluka had not enough funds to replace them all.
