Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry issued notice on a complaint of Ghulam Haider Lashari, a resident of Mehran Colony, Mirpurkhas. The complaint was converted into a criminal miscellaneous application (207 of 2006) by the Chief Justice.

Notices to complainant and Mehmood Sultan Chandio, who is working with a newspaper, have also been issued for the next date of hearing.

The notices of the apex court were forwarded to the District and Sessions Judge of Mirpurkhas, who ordered police to serve them on Mehmood Sultan Chandio and complainant Ghulam Haider Lashari without delay.

In his compliant, Lashari said that his 22-year-old married daughter was abducted by Mahmood Sultan Chandio 13 months back but police were not lodging an FIR against him. He staged hunger strike at the Post Office Chowk and subsequently his FIR was registered but police did not arrest Chandio.

He said that the accused was working in the police department but following recovery of a stolen bike he was sacked. He prayed for justice.
