TAXILA: Two more suspects, one robber and a drug peddler, were injured in two separate ‘shootouts’ with police, while two suspects managed to escape, police said.
According to a police spokesman, both suspects were injured by the bullet fire of their own companions. Senior police officers also reached the spot.
The police spokesperson said both injured were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Hazro for medical treatment, and circumstantial evidence were collected from the crime scene.
With the latest incidents, the number of ‘shootouts’ in Attock district in the current month has risen to eight, in which three suspects were killed and 10 others injured.
The spokesman said police got a wireless message that “two armed robbers on a motorcycle” looted Rs1.8 million cash from a man in Hazro city, and later the police patrolling team spotted the suspects moving towards Chachian link road.
“The motorcycle riders started firing at the police when the law enforcers signalled them to stop, and fled away. Later, they intercepted them, and when firing stopped, police found one suspect injured. He was later identified as Mohammad Abbas, a native of Mardan, while the other suspect escaped,” the spokesman said.
In another encounter, a narcotics peddler was injured during a shootout with police on Sheerani Road.
The police spokesman said acting on a tip-off, a police party raided the den of narcotics peddler Miskeen Ali. Upon seeing the police party, he, along with his colleague, opened fire at the raiding team and fled away. The suspect was later intercepted, and when firing stopped, the police found a suspect injured from the firing of his accomplice, the FIR said.
