KARACHI: A 20-year-old woman who had contracted free-will marriage was gunned down allegedly by her relatives in Baldia Town on Sunday, police and rescue services officials said.
They added that the victim, Ayesha, was shot and killed inside a house in Yousuf Goth.
Saeedabad SHO Idris Bangash said that the deceased had married Shahid Ali in their native place in Sukkur with their free-will around two and half months ago. Then the couple had come to Karachi and was living in a rented house.
The officer added that the deceased’s husband told the police that his in-laws were unhappy with their “love marriage” and he suspected the involvement of the woman’s brothers in the murder.
After the incident, the corpse was taken to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi to fulfil medico-legal requirements.
Child killed by 11-year-old over ludo game
A 10-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed to death by another child off Superhighway on Sunday, police said.
The SITE Superhighway Industrial Area police said that Abu Bakar, 10, was stabbed to death during a fight with Ali Akhtar, 11, in Janjal Goth.
Area SHO Shafiq told Dawn that the children had fought over a game of ludo when the suspect took out a knife and killed Abu Bakar.
The police have arrested the suspect and efforts are underway to recover the knife used in the crime.
The body was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
