Two children among 4 killed

SUKKUR, May 3: Four people, two of them children, were killed and six others, including three women, were injured in clashes in the Kandhkot taluka on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Two people, Ghulam Ali Teghani and Arsala Teghani, were on way to the Nizamuddin Teghani village when a group of armed men intercepted and opened fire on them.

Both were killed on the spot while the assailants escaped.

In retaliation, scores of armed men conducted a raid on the Mir Wahi village. They launched rockets and fired on the village.

Two people were killed and six others were injured.

Five houses and a van were also destroyed in rocket attacks.

Those killed were identified as Ghulam Yasin, 11, and eight-year-old Abdul Sami.

The injured are: Shah Bux, 25, four-year-old Abdul Khaliq, Shabbiran, Zehra, Khan Bibi and a passer-by Shah Dino Chachar.

All the injured were admitted to a Khanpur hospital.

The two people, who were killed last night, were buried in the village amid tight security.

Tension and harassment prevailing in the area and both the groups entrenched against each other.

Police contingents from Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Kashmore districts were summoned to avert further bloodshed.

An old enmity prevailed between the two tribes since long and armed clashes between them used to take place from time to time which so far have claimed 24 lives.
