NAWABSHAH: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Shaheed Benazirabad district has claimed to have arrested a suspected operative of proscribed Sindhudesh Revolutionary Army (SRA).

It said in a press release issued on Thursday that the suspect, Abdul Ghani Brohi, was picked up in a raid conducted at a place along the railway crossing near the Habib Sugar Mills late on Wednesday evening.

The CTD said that it had taken the action on a tip-off. “A 30-bore pistol, two magazines and bullets were seized from him,” it added.

According to the statement, the suspect’s two companions, Owais alias Darya Khan Rajper and Bashir Shar, managed to escape during the raid.

It said Brohi stated during interrogation that he intended to hand over the arms and ammunition to Owais and Bashir.

Brohi disclosed that he had earlier been transporting arms and ammunition from Peshwar to Larkana and Naushahro Feroze via Dadu, the CTD statement said.

A case (No 1/2025) was registered at the local CTD police station against the three suspects.

A young prisoner died in the Benazirabad District Jail hours after he was provided treatment for some ailment at the People Medical College Hospital in Nawabshah.

According to the jail authorities, Javed Zardari had fallen ill on Wednesday night and was rushed to hospital for treatment. Upon his return to the jail, he was served meals, they said, adding that he later went to sleep but

Was found dead in the morning.

The body was handed over to his family.

Javed was serving out his sentence in an arms possession case after legal formalities.

The inmate had been serving out a jail term for illegal arms possession.
