LAHORE: A man and his wife were arrested for allegedly torturing their minor maid to death in Hanjarwal on Saturday.

Ten-year-old Sonia of Arifwala was working as a maid at the house of Farrukh Butt.

According to the first information report (FIR), complainant Rabia Bibi said that she received a call from her relative, Sheikh Fayyaz, that Sonia had suffered injuries to her arm at the house of her employers three to four days ago and she was being treated.

She said that she, with the reference of Fayyaz, had allowed her daughter to work at the house of Butt. She called another relative, Aleem, and asked him to visit Sonia.

Aleem reported that he went to Butt’s house where he saw Butt and his wife, Nosheen, torturing Sonia. He tried to intervene but was not allowed to enter the house.

Rabia said that she went to Butt’s house where she found her daughter dead with marks of torture on her body.

Police registered a murder case against the couple and arrested them.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of the incident and sought a report from the CCPO.
