DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Security forces killed nine terrorists, including a key ringleader, during an operation in Dera Ismail Khan, the military’s media wing said.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the intelligence-based operation was conducted in the Takwara area on the night between Sunday and Monday.

It added that nine terrorists were killed, including the “most-wanted ringleader” identified as Shireen.

The ISPR claimed that Shireen was a “high-profile terrorist leader” who was wanted by law enforcement for his involvement in multiple terrorist activities.

He was involved in the targeted killing of several innocent civilians as well as the martyrdom of Captain Hasnain Akhtar on March 20, 2025.

The ISPR stated that the operation targeted the terrorists’ hideout with precision.

A fierce exchange of fire took place between the terrosits and security forces during wihch all nine terorists were gunned down.

Weapons and explosives were also recovered from the site.

The operation has avenged this heinous crime, bringing the key perpetrator to justice. A search and clearance operation is ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining threats.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has praised the security forces for the successful operation.

“The security forces thwarted the nefarious designs of these militants with timely and effective action,” said the minister.

“We salute the forces for sending these terrorists to hell.”

Mr Naqvi added that the entire nation stood united behind its brave and professional security forces in the pursuit of lasting peace.
