At a meeting of the UN Security Council and clear call for an investigation into Israel’s killing of 15 medical aid workers, Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo reports from the UN Headquarters in New York City.

“Since October 2023, the council has held, on average, three meetings per month on the occupied Palestinian territory, including Gaza.

“Volker Turk, the UN high commissioner for human rights, told the council that crimes in Gaza need accountability,” he said.

“There is clearly growing consensus in the council that it must do more to hold Israel accountable. As Algeria’s ambassador said, failure to do so would result in the loss of any authority and legitimacy the council still might have.”
