ISLAMABAD: Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation President Cikgu Azmi Abdul Hamid called on Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, says a message received here on Sunday.

Cikgu Azmi is one of the leading human rights and Muslim minorities’ rights activists in Malaysia and amongst the leading voices in support of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Cikgu Azmi briefed the Senate chairman on the humanitarian activities being undertaken by his organisation in support of the people of Kashmir and the oppressed Muslims in other parts of the world. He conveyed his appreciation to the Pakistani brothers and sisters who are always active and eager to support humanitarian efforts.

Recalling his recent visit to Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, he expressed confidence that longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries would continue to grow given the strong people-to-people ties.

The Senate chairman appreciated Cikgu Azmi and his organisation for their humanitarian services and continued support for people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their just struggle to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination.

Mr Gilani underscored the importance of close cooperation between Pakistan and Malaysia to continue to work together in facing challenges faced by the Islamic world such as Islamophobia. He emphasised the need for dialogue between international community at all forums for peaceful resolutions of conflicts and disputes to ensure a peaceful world for all of humanity.
