OKARA, April 29: Former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has said the interference of army in politics is detrimental to the stability and integrity of the country.
The message of the former prime minister was read out in a PML-N workers’ convention at the residence of party district president Mian Muhammad Zaman here on Saturday. PML-N Punjab president Sardar Zulfikar Ali Khan Khosa chaired the convention.
Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Zulfikar Ali Khosa said the country was in the grip of lawlessness due to the dictatorial rule of the army general.
He said the PML-N had supported the tenants of military farms the land of which was being cultivated by them for about a century.
Workers chanted slogans against Gen Pervez Musharraf and in favour of their leader Mian Nawaz Sharif.
Meanwhile, PML-N provincial joint secretary Mian Munir and his supporters were not allowed to participate in the convention.
Punjab lawyer wing president Naseer Bhutta advocate, MNA Pervez Malik, Punjab women wing president Begum Najma Hamid, Punjab youth wing president Mian Ghulam Husain Shahid, PML-N secretary-general Syed Zahid Gillani and Syed Shahid Iqbal of the labour wing were also present on the occasion.
