RAWALPINDI: Divisional Coordination Committee on Tuesday expressed concerns over missing facilities in the tehsil headquarters hospitals in six districts of Rawalpindi division and asked the local administration to improve the healthcare system.

Commissioner Amir Khattak directed the deputy commissioners to visit all government hospitals and submit observation a report within a day.

“The report should incorporate the details of concerns and shortages that come into light during the visits,” he ordered.

Also, he said that the report should include suggestions and recommendations for further improvement of the facilities provided in public hospitals.

The comminssioner said that the THQ hospitals should be assigned to assistant commissioners concerned and DHQ hospitals should be visited by additional deputy commissioners. Mr Khattak further said, “It is our responsibility to provide quality medical facilities to the people.”

He went on to say that effective strategies should be adopted to check the treatment facilities in hospitals and resolve problems faced by the public.

“Almost all the problems of infrastructure in the hospitals have been resolved during the revamping. Therefore, more focus needs to be kept on the clinical side.”

He added that the health council should be fully activated so that various problems should be resolved on the spot after necessary actions.

The review meeting of the Divisional Coordination Committee held at the commissioner’s office in Rawalpindi was attended by Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema, Director Local Government Syed Sibtain Kazmi and other officials concerned.
