ISLAMABAD: Two suspects were injured during an encounter with police, while two others managed to escape, police claimed on Saturday.

During the encounter, the police also resorted to firing but claimed that the two suspects were injured from the firing of their accomplices.

It was the fourth police encounter during the current month.

Earlier, in three encounters, three suspects were injured and, as per the police, all were injured from the firing of their accomplices. Besides, five suspects managed to escape.

The fresh encounter took place in the area of G-8/4 during the early hours of Saturday.

A case has been registered against the suspects under sections 324, 353, 186, and 34 of PPC along with section 13 and 20 of the Arms Ordinance.

The police claimed that an eight-member team armed with SMGs set up a picket at Toefl Niazi Road G-8/4. Around 12:15am, four persons riding two motorcycles appeared from the Zero Point side. When the police signalled them to stop, they started firing at the police and sped the motorcycles towards a wooded area.

The police also opened fire in self defence.

After the weapons fell silent, the police searched the wooded area and found two injured lying there.

As per the police, the two injured told them that they sustained severe bullet injuries from the firing of their two other accomplices.

Later, the injured were shifted to hospital for medical assistance.

Citizens deprived of cash, valuables

Alleged gangs of robbers looted cash and valuables in two separate strikes in Islamabad, police said on Saturday.

In the first incident, a gang of robbers looted cash and valuables from three persons at a distance of one and a half kilometres from the Karachi Company police station.

According to police sources, two motorcycle-borne suspects intercepted a citizen named Nabeel Ahmed and his two friends at Street 59, Sector G-9/4, and held them up at gunpoint.

They allegedly looted two mobile phones and cash from the trio.

In another incident, suspected muggers looted two persons in the Sumbal police station’s limits.

The incident unfolded when a complainant named Talha Omer along with his friend was on the way home.

He told the police that three riders intercepted them, pulled out weapons and held them up at gunpoint.

They reportedly looted an iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone X, Oppo A18 and cash worth Rs1,900 from the citizens.

The robbers were reportedly aged between 22 and 23 years old.

The Islamabad police have registered separate cases under section 392 of the PPC against unidentified robbers.
