ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Friday issued production order of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s lawmakers Ijaz Chaudhry and Aon Abbas for the Senate session set to resume on Saturday.

“Senate Chairman considers necessary the presence of Senators Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhary and Aon Abbas during the remaining sittings of the current 347th session of the Senate of Pakistan, and the next sitting of which is scheduled to be held on Saturday, the 8th March, 2025, at 11:30a.m., in the Parliament House, Islamabad,” the order said.

The order was issued under rule 84 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 2012, He directed production of both lawmakers at the commencement of each sitting of the current session before the Sergeant-at-Arms, Senate Secretariat, Islamabad, who shall, after the conclusion of the sitting, deliver their custody to the authorities concerned.

This is the third production order to have been issued for Ijaz Chaudhary who has been incarcerated for around 20 months. None of the previous two orders could be implemented.

In March last year, he was due to be produced in the Senate, but was unable to attend the session. The second production order was issued by Mr Gilani and was not complied with. Mr Gilani has not chaired the Senate session after that as a mark of undeclared protest.

Mr Aon Abbas was arrested a day earlier on the charge of illegally hunting Chinkara deer, one of the protected species, in Cholistan.
