PESHAWAR: The higher education department in collaboration with the archaeology department has pledged to restore the historical structures of the Islamia College Peshawar (ICP).

The historic structures of ICP also includes the iconic Burj Hari Singh Bungalow, which once served as the first governor’s residence in Peshawar, according to a statement issued here on Friday.

This initiative reinforces the government’s dedication to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of ICP.

Prof Ziaul Haq, ICP Vice-Chancellor, expressed his gratitude to the authorities concerned for taking keen interest in restoration of the historic building and reclaiming the institution’s land.

Recently, in a landmark achievement, ICP successfully reclaimed 55 kanals of valuable land in Sabzi Mandi, Charsadda.

The reclaimed land, previously occupied by an illegal vegetable market, will enable ICP to achieve financial stability, which will ultimately make the university able to expand its infrastructure and enhance its academic programmes, further solidifying its position as a premier educational institution in the province.

This achievement marks a significant milestone in ICP’s journey, underscoring the government’s commitment to supporting the institution’s growth and development.

The ICP will soon invite investors to construct high-rise buildings in strategic locations, including Sabzi Mandi, Charsadda, and Dhoobi Ghat.
