LAHORE: Long shot bay horse Mighty Macs caused an upset on Saturday when he beat favourite bay colt Murad to win the Trace Hit Cup in a close battle during the Lahore Winter Meeting here at the Racecourse.

Chestnut colt Farhan Prince and chestnut Brooklyn completed the frame among five starters in the 1,000-metre race.

Mohammad Ashfaq Chaudhy, the owner of the winning horse, received the cup from Lahore Race Club (LRC) steward Mahmood Rafi.

A race earlier bay mare Shakira caused a big surprise when she beat chestnut colt Golden Heart to bag the supporting event, Kot Lakhpat Plate, which was run over 1,000 metres. Odds on favourite colt Brigadier in a dismal show third with bay filly Gabriela finished fourth.

Only two favourite horses obliged the punters in a card of five races while the other three events went to longshots.
