KARACHI: A young man was shot dead in a suspected targeted attack in Baldia Town, police said on Saturday.

They identified the victim as 35-year-old Jawad Akram, 35, and said he was shot and killed in Afridi Colony within the remit of the Madina Colony police station.

The police said that he was sitting with his friends in Saeedabad when four assailants riding two motorcycles emerged there, opened indiscriminate fire on him and rode away.

He suffered seven bullet wounds and died on the spot. Investigators had collected 12 spent bullet casings from the crime scene.

DIG-South Syed Asad Raza said it appeared to be an incident of targeted killing, but the exact motive was being ascertained.

The police said that victim Akram had survived a similar attack on June 2, 2024 in Saeedabad.
