GUJRAT: Hafizabad town and its adjoining areas on Friday received heavy rain and hailstorm, causing some damage to crops in the rural areas.

Because of the downpour and hailstorm, temperatures dropped considerably in the entire Gujrat region, including Hafizabad, Mandi Bahuddin and Wazirabad.

As per Rescue 1122 and administrative sources, hailstorm affected crops in Hafizabad villages, including Venike Tarrar, Laal ke, Dherann Ke, Channi Hanjrawa, Raam Ke Chatha and Chak Kharal.

Intermittent heavy rain has been continuing in Gujrat city and its adjoining rural localities for the last two consecutive days, resulting in the accumulation of rainwater in different areas of Gujrat city, causing inconvenience for the residents.

The rainwater accumulation also affected the shopping activities ahead of the fasting month of Ramazan.

Meanwhile, the sanitary staff of the Municipal Corporation remained busy in draining out the rainwater from the main roads of the city.
