ISLAMABAD: Pakistan clinched the Combaxx 7th Asian Open Taekwondo Championship here at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Wednesday clinching 15 medals in the competition.

The host country, whose medals tally include two gold, five silver and eight bronze, stood out among competing nations while athletes from Iran, Egypt, and Tajikistan each claimed one gold medal. Afghanistan secured two bronze medals while Palestine earned one bronze.

In the men’s -58kg category, Haroon Khan won gold while Siddique Abubakar took silver and Tayyab Muhammad claimed bronze, marking a sweep for Pakistan in the division.

In the -74kg category, Junaid Faizan secured bronze, while Omar Hamza Saeed added a +87kg silver to Pakistan’s tally.

On the women’s side, Zahraa Khawar Fateemaah Tuz won silver in the -49kg category.

Pakistan excelled in the -62kg category, where Sabira Bibi claimed gold, Zoya Sabir took silver and Fazila Bibi secured bronze.

Hafiza Aslam Khadija also grabbed a bronze in the same weight class.

In the +73kg, Manisha and Aneeza Imran won bronze.
