KARACHI: The Sindh government has appointed Ishaq Khuhro, a grade-20 officer, as the director general of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA).

He was made the SBCA DG following the retirement of Abdul Rasheed Solangi.

Mr Khuhro had served as the SBCA chief during the caretaker set-up last year. During his brief stint as the SBCA chief, he had taken multiple actions for bringing reforms in the authority, setting up a “counter-checking department” to keep eye on the performance of officials.

“He has taken several actions against those found involved in turning a blind eye to illegal construction as he transferred many of them from Karachi to other Sindh cities. He had also written a letter to the then Karachi police chief for lodging FIRs against two of such officers found involved in illegal activities,” said a source.
