DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police have issued a threat alert to Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding a suspected militant attack on him.

The advisory issued on Saturday stated: “The militants of Fitna-al-Khawarij (FaK) are planning to assassinate Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl emir Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

“The militants plan to target Maulana Fazlur Rehman for participating and interfering in religious and political matters,” the notice said.

The notice further said some sources informed the police that for this purpose, target killers had been assigned the responsibility of completing the task.

“The plan will be carried out secretly while the ‘Khawarij’ will not take the responsibility of attack,” the alert stated.

The Dera police have urged Mr Rehman to keep his movement secret and also increase his personal security.

They also advised him to keep the record of guests, who come to meet him, even after strict checking.
