RAWALPINDI: The Government of Pakistan today [Feb 10] dissolved the National Awami Party and forfeited all properties and funds of the party. The action, according to gazette of Pakistan notifications, has been taken under … the Political Parties Act of 1962. The notifications said that the Government was satisfied that the NAP was operating in a manner prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan and it had, therefore, formally declared the NAP to be operating in such a manner. Following the Government order banning the NAP, all the offices of the party … have been sealed.

[Meanwhile,] Radio Kabul, which has been constantly inciting violence in Pakistan’s politics, began the count-down on Mr Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao’s life on January 13 last. Declaring that nothing would save Mr Sherpao from the anger of those against him, Radio Kabul said if Mr Sherpao remained on what it described as “the soil of the Pakhtoons” his remaining alive would become impossible. … Some details about those who were operating against Mr Sherpao … in Pakistan were given to the BBC correspondent, Tony Mason, in Kabul … by Mr Ajmal Khattak [Secretary-General of NAP].
