LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Aalia Neelum on Monday administered oath to nine newly-appointed additional judges.

The judges who took oath are Justice Hassan Nawaz Makhdoom, Justice Malik Waqar Haider Awan, Justice Sardar Akbar Ali, Justice Syed Ahsan Raza Kazmi, Justice Malik Javed Iqbal Wains, Justice Muhammad Jawad Zafar, Justice Khalid Ishaq, Justice Malik Muhammad Awais Khalid and Justice Chaudhry Sultan Mahmood.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the high court judges, federal and provincial government lawyers, and relatives of the newly-appointed additional judges.

This new batch of judges has been inducted into the LHC after a gap of three-and-a-half years.

After these new appointments, the number of judges in the LHC has reached 43 against the sanctioned strength of 60.

Appointment of more judges for the LHC is likely to be approved by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan in its next meetings.
