As per the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, a ninth batch of medical evacuations is supposed to take place today, according to Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reporting from Gaza City.

“Names have not yet been released by the Israeli side as they undergo security clearance. The experience of the past eight evacuations has shown that not everyone who gets on a list is able to travel to Egypt or other countries for medical treatment. That has to do with the way the Israeli military is processing the security clearance.

“Each time, 50 patients are to be evacuated as part of the ceasefire agreement. Three people are allowed to go with each patient, which brings the total number to 200 people,” he said.

But so far, many patients and those accompanying them were not allowed to leave because their names were not cleared by Israeli intelligence.

Those who end up being allowed to leave can do so through the Rafah crossing in the south.
