Published April 23, 2006

PESHAWAR, April 22: An armyman was killed when robbers opened fire in the Ashrafia Colony area here on Friday night, sources said. However, an official of the Faqirabad police station, where a case has been registered against two assailants, denied the incident and said no army official had been killed by robbers.

Bilal, a resident of Qaziabad told the police that he and his friend Younus Khan, who lived in Momin town and was serving in the Pakistan army, were playing video games on their cellphone when two persons opened fire and escaped, the official claimed.

Younus Khan expired on the spot while Bilal was not hurt. The police official was reluctant to give the deceased’s army rank.
