According to the World Health Organization, 50 Palestinians in need of medical care abroad will be let through the newly reopened Rafah border crossing tomorrow, the first such evacuation during the ongoing ceasefire.

Analyst Mohamed Elmasry told Al Jazeera that the medical evacuation is “welcome news” to Palestinians suffering from injury or illness in Gaza, where Israel has largely decimated the healthcare system and stopped basic medical goods from entering.

However, it remains unclear which and how many Palestinians will be able to use the crossing after tomorrow, he said.

“There are many thousands of Palestinians who are injured and many are in urgent need of healthcare,” he added.
