The Shin Bet internal security service has warned families of the soon-to-be-released Palestinian prisoners against celebrating, according to Israel’s Channel 12 broadcaster, Al Jazeera reports.
After the previous release of prisoners earlier this month, Israeli forces arrested 12 Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem after videos emerged showing them celebrating by waving Hamas flags and firing guns into the air.
They alleged that the men violated a ban on “expressions of joy” and “identification with Hamas” that has been imposed since the Gaza ceasefire took hold.
