PESHAWAR, April 21: Vice-Chancellor of the University of Peshawar, Prof. Dr Haroon Rashid, has appreciated the establishment of “Lincoln Corner” at the Central Library and said it would help students in the field of research and modern education.

Talking to a group of administrative heads of university here on Friday, Dr. Rashid said that the Lincoln Corner would facilitate students both in academics and in research work besides assisting them in the exchange of delegations between the two countries.

Moreover, he said achieving academic excellence was his priority and added that students were being encouraged and facilitated to meet the challenges of the modern world. He said the main objective behind the setting up of the “Khyber Islamic Cultural Society” in the Peshawar University was to apprise students of Islamic teachings and messages of the holy Quran.

Dr Rashid said that special attention was being focused on both academic and extra-curricular activities and added that participation in these events created confidence in students.

He urged upon the academicians to concentrate on research along with theory as both were inter-related and vital for enhancing their professional competence.—APP
