Israeli forces have arrested a young Palestinian man from the town of Silat al-Harithiya, west of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, the Wafa news agency reports.

Witnesses said Israeli soldiers raided the house of An’ad Abu al-Khair Tahaineh, ransacking its contents before arresting him.

For a second week now, Israeli troops have launched a major operation in Jenin backed by armoured vehicles, drones and attack helicopters, killing at least 16 Palestinians in Jenin and the surrounding areas, Palestinian health authorities said.

Mohammad Jarrar, the mayor of the crowded township that is home to many armed Palestinian fighters, said on Sunday that some 15,000 residents have also been forced to flee the Jenin refugee camp due to Israeli attacks.
