TOBA TEK SINGH: Two persons attacked two brother murder accused at Shorkot tehsil court complex when the police brought them from jail to produce them before the court of the additional district and sessions judge on Tuesday.

However, the accused remained unhurt, but a passerby was killed, and three others were critically injured.

Police said accused Imran and Ramzan had murdered Muhammad Riaz, the father of accused Ali Sher. He (Ali Sher) and his accomplice, Arif Bhatti, opened fire on them.

The passerby, who received multiple bullets and died on the spot, was identified as Shahid Ali of Makhdoompur, Khanewal, while the three wounded included Iftikhar Ahmad (clerk of a lawyer), Aoun Muhammad and Muhammad Fayaz.

Firing leaves three injured

The injured were shifted to Shorkot THQ Hospital.

Police arrested Ali Sher; however, his accomplice Arif Bhatt fled.

Jhang DPO Bilal Iftikhar Kiani visited the court complex.

Faisalabad RPO Dr Muhammad Abid Khan directed the Jhang DPO to hold an inquiry into how the attackers succeeded in bringing guns with them, although strict checking was ordered on all gates of court complexes in the division.

Meanwhile, Shorkot Tehsil Bar Association President and General Secretary Mian Akhtar Abbas Sial and Choudry Waqas Saleem, respectively, stated in a press release that this incident occurred due to a security lapse by the police.

After the incident, lawyers went on strike, and the strike will also be observed on Wednesday to condemn the police for their failure to check the entry of attackers with arms.

DEATH SENTENCE: An additional district and sessions judge in Toba Tek Singh handed down a death sentence on Tuesday to Asad Masood of Chak 303-GB.

According to the prosecution, Chuttiana police had arrested convict Asad Masood, who had shot dead his woman relative over a domestic dispute on Sept 12, 2021.

WASTE WATER PLANT: The Central Working Development Party (CWDP) has approved the revised PC-1 of the Waste Water Treatment Plant in collaboration with Denmark for Faisalabad, under which a waste water treatment plant with a capacity of 33 million gallons daily will be built in the eastern part of the city.

It will be constructed at an estimated cost of 178 million euros.

Deputy Managing Director Engineering Saqib Raza with other colleagues participated in the meeting.

The mega project would be the first and only project of its kind across Punjab, which would make the sewage water of the eastern side useful for crops after treatment, thereby relieving the citizens of Faisalabad from environmental pollution.

After the approval of the government regarding the construction of the waste water treatment plant, the work on the project will be officially started.
