The UNRWA chief has told the Security Council that implementation of a ban on the UN Palestinian relief agency in Israel — due to come into effect on Thursday — will be disastrous and cripple its work in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, Reuters reports.
UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini said the ban would “heighten instability and deepen despair in the occupied Palestinian territory at a critical moment”, undermine a ceasefire in Gaza and sabotage the enclave’s recovery and political transition.
