GWADAR: Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) successfully thwarted a major drug smuggling attempt during an operation at the Jiwani coast.

A PCG spokesperson said on Monday that acting on intelligence reports about a large quantity of drugs hidden for smuggling, the Coast Guards launched an operation in the challenging terrain north of Jiwani on Sunday night.

During the raid, the Coast Guards recovered 1,832 kilograms of high-quality hashish, packed in 40 plastic containers and concealed in the mountains. The recovered narcotics are believed to have been intended for smuggling either within the country or abroad.

The estimated value of the seized hashish is approximately $30.57 million in the international market.
