QUETTA: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) organised meetings in several parts of Balochistan on Tuesday, drawing a large number of workers and supporters, as part of an awareness drive for a memorial day on Jan 25.

In a meeting in Dalbandin town, led by senior BYC leader Dr Sabia Baloch, several men, women and children participated carrying placards and banners inscribed with their demands.

The participants marched through various roads in Dalbandin, voicing their concerns over the issues faced by the Baloch people.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Baloch emphasised that the upcoming event on Jan 25 in Dalbandin would serve as a demonstration of unity among the Baloch people in their struggle for rights.

She stressed that the movement goes beyond the issue of missing persons, encompassing all forms of injustice and oppression faced by the people of Balochistan.

“This movement seeks to raise a strong voice against state brutality and highlight the deprivation of basic facilities for the Baloch people,” she said.

Dr Baloch said the challenges faced by the Baloch extended beyond enforced disappearances, describing what she referred to as a “Baloch genocide” that affects various aspects of life, including the denial of fundamental rights.
