Israeli military claims to have killed ‘20,000 Hamas operatives’ in Gaza

Outgoing military chief Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi has said that Israeli forces have killed “20,000 Hamas operatives” during 15 months of fighting in Gaza, AFP reports.

“The military wing of Hamas has been severely impacted,” Halevi said during a televised address hours after he announced his resignation, saying Israel had killed the group’s top leadership and “nearly 20,000 Hamas operatives”.
