BAHAWALPUR: Dozens of jeep racers are expected to participate in the 20th Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally to begin from Feb 12 to 16 in the vast desert of Cholistan near Derawar Fort.

This was stated by Bahawalpur Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen while presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements on Saturday.

Regional Police Officer Rai Babar Saeed, DPO Asad Sarfraz Khan, Managing Director Syed Tariq Bokhari of Cholistan Development Authority(CDA), Bahawalpur, Deputy Commissioner, Bahawalpur Dr Farhan Rafique, General Manager Tourism Development Corporation, Punjab (TDCP) Nauman Khan and others were present.

The commissioner issued directions for establishing a tent village for visitors and tourists at the desert, a food street and a cultural festival. She also asked the police officials to finalise a plan for foolproof security for the participants and visitors.

According to details, Akram Pathan suspected that Zain Ali had an illicit relationship with his wife. On Saturday, he found Zain in his cattle pen and slit his throat with a sharp-edged weapon and burnt his body with sprinkling petrol on it.

Later, the suspect threw the body into the nearby watercourse in the suburb of Basti Rath Sunni in the limits of.

According to Matroo Police Station, they arrested Akram Pathan and recovered the victim’s body from the watercourse.
