ABBOTTABAD, April 19: The Frontier Education Foundation has approved a grant of Rs2 million for trainee teachers of quake-hit areas in the NWFP.
This was stated by Mushtaq Jadoon, managing director of the foundation, while addressing the concluding ceremony of a training course at the Elementary College on Wednesday. About 300 teachers received training during the course.
Mr Jadoon handed over a cheque to the principal of the college and asked him to ensure early disbursement of the grant.
He said that 153 female community schools were being set up in the NWFP. The province has been divided into 15 sectors where 1.8 million students aged between 9 and 39 years will get education inm 8000 literacy centres.
TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS: the local traffic police has booked about 100 motorcyclists for not using helmet.
Interestingly, however, the traffic police personnel in the city themselves are never seen wearing helmets while riding motorbikes.
Another aspect of the current campaign is that police are imposing Rs300 fine for the helmet rule violation, whereas rules envisage a fine of only Rs50.
Police have also impounded a number of motorcycles during the campaign.
