GWADAR: Members of Public Accounts Committee of the Balochistan Assembly on Wednesday visited several completed and under-construction development projects in Gwadar and expressed their satisfaction at the quality of construction.

The PAC, led by MPA Asghar Ali Tareen, and its members including MPAs Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Zabid Reki, Zamarak Khan Achakzai, Fazal Qadir and MPA from Gwadar, Maulana Hidayat Ur Rehman, took round of various under-construction and completed development projects.

During the visit, the director general of Gwadar Develop­ment Authority (GDA), Shafqat Anwar Shahwani, briefed the committee members on the progress of different development schemes of the area.

The PAC members inspected the GDA Public Higher Seco­ndary School, Old Town, restoration project, Mullah Fazal Chowk, Ishaq Cricket Stadium and historical and cultural heritage sites, including Portu­guese Watch Tower, Telegraph Office, Char Padgo, Shahi Bazaar and Ismailia Muhalla.

They also took round of various wards and streets of the old town.

The PAC members also visited the Gwadar Fishing Jetty and Gwadar Port, where the chairman of the Gwadar Port Authority, Pasand Khan Buledi, briefed them about the port and the free zone.

The GDA director general informed the committee about the ongoing development projects, road networks, sewage, and drainage lines.

Members of the committee also met local people, listened to their problems, and assured them of solution to their problems.

The committee praised GDA’s efforts for the welfare of the local people and the city’s development.

Chief Engineer of GDA Haji Syed Muhammad, Superinte­ndent Engineer Nadir Baloch and Executive Engineer Qazi Kashif briefed the committee on various projects.

The committee members said during the visit that the ongoing projects under the Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan wo­uld not only promote the city’s development, but would also provide employment to local people and improve the living standard of the area people.
