LAHORE: A minor girl died of severe burns while another baby was seriously injured when a fire broke out at their house at Malipura near Bund Road here on Tuesday.

Rescue 1122 reached the site on being alerted and extinguished the fire and said that only two children were present at the home when the incident took place.

A police official told reporters that the reason for the fire couldn’t be ascertained as no adult member of the family was present at home.

He said the fire broke out in a room of the house where two-year-old Hoor Shahzadi was playing along with her brother.

The official said Shahzadi was recovered dead from the room when Rescue 1122 reached and launched an operation to control the fire.

Rs4.2m Robbery: Three armed robbers looted a petrol pump in Shahdara area after subjecting its manager, salesmen and other staffers to torture.

As per police sources, the robbers armed with automatic weapons, broke open the lockers with hammers and other instruments and collect the cash. They also snatched money from the manager, salesmen and other employees and fled the scene with total Rs4.2 million after locking them in a room.

On being informed of the incident, police concerned rushed to the spot and started investigations.

The police recorded the statements of petrol pump employees, who said they were tortured by the robbers who were wearing no masks.

The police also examined the data of CCTV cameras installed in and around the petrol pump, which showed the robbers looting cash.

The police lodged a case against the unidentified criminals.
