TOBA TEK SINGH: Dr Rai Khizer Hayat Bhatti, 40, orthopaedic surgeon posted at Toba DHQ Hospital, and another man, Ahmad Ali, 60, died in a road accident on Gojra Road on Monday.

Dr Bhatti’s wife Dr Shumaila Khizer Bhatti, a gynecologist, and another man sustained critical injuries and were shifted to Jhang DHQ Hospital. Dr Bhatti was laid to rest in his native village near Shah Jewna Mandi.

WALL COLLAPSE: Labourer Nawaz Sarwar, 45, died and two others, Bashir Ahmad, 43, and Liaqat Ali, 40, were critically injured when a house wall and roof collapsed on them during demolition in People’s Colony, Faisalabad, on Ehsan Yousaf Textile Mills Road.

Rescuers recovered the victims from the debris, but Sarwar had already died. The injured were shifted to DHQ Hospital.

PROTEST: Scores of men and women blocked traffic on Jhang Road in Kabirwala, Khanewal, on Monday, protesting the alleged killing of Mushtaq Ahmad, 40, by police.

Protesters claimed Kabirwala City police raided Ahmad’s house to arrest gamblers and shot him during the operation. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Police assured protesters that a murder FIR would be registered against the responsible officers, leading to the protest’s end.
