LAHORE: A young woman and her cousin were found shot dead inside a house in the Budhla Sanat area of Multan on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Najma, 20, and Zahoor, 25.

According to police, both suffered gunshot wounds to the head and were found lying in the same room of a house at 5-KMR, Jungle Muriyala Road.

Police said Najma’s father, Zafar, was outside the house when he heard gunshots. He went inside and found his daughter and nephew lying dead.

He informed police through 15.

Police and Rescue 1122 personnel shifted the bodies to Nishtar Hospital for autopsy. Police also recovered a pistol from the scene.

A police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the initial examination of the crime scene suggested that Zahoor might have shot Najma dead and later shot himself to commit suicide. However, the official stressed that it was only a preliminary assessment and police were investigating other possibilities. He said the possibility of an honour-related killing could not be ruled out at this stage.
