ABBOTTABAD, April 18: Senior Civil Judge Abbottabad Mr Tahir Ali on Tuesday sent nine shopkeepers to jail on charge of profiteering.

The judge conducted raids on the directives of the District and Sessions Judge and ordered arrest of the owners of Mir Bakers, Moon Emporium, Cake Land Bakers, Lasani General Store, Friends Bakery, Halal General Store and Madina General Store.

The judge, along with city police and food department officials, checked prices of essential commodities in the bazaar and noticed that the shopkeepers were charging more than the prices fixed by the food department.
